The Alberene Quarry School of Crafts’s establishment in a working soapstone quarry will serve as a vital resource for preserving and celebrating the history of Virginia Soapstone sculpture and other practical crafts. Through its comprehensive programs, exhibits, and demonstrations, the center will enrich the local community, offer economic opportunities, and foster cultural appreciation.
Statement of Purpose
To preserve the History, facilities, and material culture of The Alberene Soapstone Company and create a venue to transfer knowledge of Virginia soapstone and its use in art, architecture, and commerce through classes, demonstrations, and tours.
The Alberene Foundation is a newly established 501c3 nonprofit organization.
